IDR Final Step Fail on HP proliant DL360

Good morning,
I give you the configuration
A backup exec 10.1 has been updated to 11.
The backup exec is in french and the windows server 2003 in french too.
I ve got all licence needed especially for intelligent disaster recovery
There is a test server. He had two disk (36g) in raid 1.
i have installed windows server 2003, the remote agent, and done a complete save.
Then i have created the IDR CD, a boot CD.
After that i remove the two disk, and replace by two disk of 146g in raid 1.

When i do the procedure of restoration with a support server all is good.

Just at the end i have run cmd.exe to check the files on the disk and all was here.

And after i have push TERMINER in french, i suppose end in english.

The last step is a reboot, after tht we can see a screen symantec and normally the server do some process and reboot another time.

After this reboot therestore procedure is ending...but in my case, in the last steep i see the screen symantec...and wait a long time (More than 10 hour) but the server never reboot ;0(

I think it is a trouble with the raid of hp...but i am not sure.

Any help could be very nice, thank you.

(And soory for my bad english)

  • Hi,

    Please perform the following:

    1. If the servers are Itanium processor servers, make sure hotfix 7 is downloaded from our Support site and installed on both the Backup Exec media server and the remote server (before doing the backup).

    2. Make sure hotfix 9 is installed on the Backup Exec media server and the remote server (before doing the backup).

    64bit: http://support.veritas.com/docs/286976

    3. When you create the IDR CD, make sure you are using the Operating System CD that was used to install the operating system. For example, if it was a slipstream CD of Windows 2003 with service pack 1, then you need to use a slipstream CD with IDR (NOT a regular Windows 2003 CD without service pack 1). Howeve, if you used a normal Windows 2003 CD with no service packs, then make sure you use that same CD when creating the IDR CD. It might be that it was an HP OEM CD used to install that OS. If that's the case, then make sure you use that same CD when creating the IDR CD.

Please let me know if this helps to resolve your issue.

    Thanks.
  • Hi

I am also having this problem, i have the patches installed and have tried installing with a W2003 (No SP) CD and SP1 CD, both had the same problem.

The system is restoring the files because if i open the cmd window after the restore i can see the files, however, at boot the computer just hangs.

I believe there is supposed to be another symantec screen before windows actually boots but i haven't even seen this.

I am trying it on a HP Dl380.

    Any more ideas?

    thanks

    Jeff
