Instant Recovery " advantage and disadvantages "

instead of using detachable device why disk based only is applicable for using instant Recovery ?

    Some instances when you want to use agent-based backup are

    1) File servers which you want to be able to get at individual files/folders quickly.  There is no need to mount the VM.

    2) Databases which spans more than 1 VM, e.g. Exchange DAG.

    With such backups, you loose the ability to restore the entire VM and recover quickly.

      and i have a following query . when do we used agent based backup if you are on a virtual environment and what is the appropriate thing to use when initiating backup ?
