Hi,
The tape must be in the Scratch set or overwritable. If it is protected by the media set's OPP/Append settings, then you either need to erase it if you are sure you don't need the data on it, or find another tape.
But, you'd run an Inventory to detect the tape.
Catalog is run when you need to do a restore...
Thanks!

- It's a new tape. Also "Inventory" is ok ??
- Otherwise, if the tape is protected, how to erase it ??
- pkhModeratorAre you using barcode labels? If not, did you right-click and label it?

...have you checked the tape to make sure the protection tab hasn't been moved across?
Otherwise...place tape in drive, run an Inventory job, and then erase it through BE itself.
Thanks!

...if it is a new tape, no need to format or erase it. It is automatically added to the Scratch set.
Thanks!
