is read only permission on LUNs suffisant for BE server to backup vmware VMs over SAN?

hi all,

my client has 5 backupexec vray licence for 5 vmware hosts (VMWARE vSphere 6 Enterprise Plus) , one win2012r2 physical server (for backupexec 16), san storage and a tape library all connected to FC switch fabric,

he is very afraid for his production storage bay, is the read only access of BE server to the LUNs is enough for the backup (not restore) with san transport mode?

    Hello there,

    Ideally it should work by sharing the same LUN’s containing the VMFS datastore. If you have confusion you should refer this technote, its includes environment setup/requirements related to SAN transport mode.
