Job Incremental

 

I have another question.

 

 

  The job that is selected in red. is created to make backups incrementally during the week. additional but I think one that says Full. I understand that to create a job requires a full incremental. but from there onwards I do not want it to get full, only incremental. how I can disable the full?

    You can make the FULL backup schedule as Run Now with no Recurrence and schedule incrementals to Run once every day.

    But may i know the strategy behind this? Without running Fulls inbetween, you will be in trouble with restores. And most important thing to remember is, you must retain incrementals till you run another full backup.

    When you restore from incremental backups, you need to restore the last full backup + ALL the incremental backups since the last full backup.  You can do what you propose, but you would need to retain the media for your full backup and ALL your incremental backups.  You would run out of media pretty soon.

    Do plan to run full backups on a regular basis.   The less time lag between full backups the better.

    Hello ,

    Yes i also agree with #Kiran Bandi suggestion of keeping the schedule for FULL as run now (or keep it on hold , you can then make decision when you want to run the full depending of your need) and Incrimantal as per your schdule .

    But taking Full periodically is a better idea. Helps in saving media and media mangment.

    Want to make a point here , you dont need to worry about restoring the Full and then incrimantal now.

    When you select the incrimantal from restore browse view in background it selects the corrosponding full as well .

    This is new feature in Backup Exec 2012
