License Question

We currently have a Quantum tape installed and Virtual Tape Library Unlimited Drive license. We are adding another Quantum tape drive to our system, do we need to have another license for it or does the Virtual Tape Library Unlimited Drive license take care of multiple tape drives?

    Hi,

     

    A VTL license takes care of VTL drives, not physical. BE will ship with support/a license for 1 drive, be it a stand-alone, or a drive in an autoloader/library. Any additional tape drive installed into an autoloader/library means you need to buy 1 x Library Expansion Option (LEO) license per new drive.

    Eg: Autoloader ships with 1 drive installed but can take 2...first drive is covered by your media server license, and the 2nd drive installed needs an LEO license.

    If you're just adding another Quantum drive (either stand-alone) or another library, then you're fine and won't need an additional license.
