Linux Agent licensing with VMWare license

Hi,

 

We purchased a VMWare license for each of our virtual hosts which if I understand allows us to perform GRT backups on any of our virtual machines. The licence summary also states that we are licenced for Agent for Linux, up until now we have only used BE2012 to backup Windows Servers and the installation wizard does not allow us to choose Linux, only Windows agent.

Am I licensed to backup Linux or do I need a Linux Agent licence separately?

If I am licensed can I not push install or is it a manual installation?

    With the VMware license you are entitled to load AWS/RALUS on any number of VM's on the licensed host. RALUS needs to be manually installed. It cannot be pushed, unlike AWS. You also need to manually update the RALUS after you apply any SP or hotfix. See my blog below https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/blogs/how-install-patches-ralus-rmals-and-rams

    Note that there is no GRT restore for Linux VM's.  If you want to be able to restore individual files/folders from a Linux VM, then you need to backup the Linux VM as if it is a physical machine.
