Login credential required for Disk based storage device on Backup exec 2012

Hello All,

 

I am trying to create a Disk based storage device on Backup Exec 2012, but as my storage server share is password protected, I am unable to create the device.

    Hi,

     

    Any specific reason why it is password-protected? If not, remoev the password and it will work.

    Otherwise try to create a hidden share and point your B2D to that.

    The service account used by BE has to match the login account on the device (including the password)

    I have tried that also, but it is not working.

     

    interesting thing is, this is happening only in case of windows 2003. When using windows 2008 this problem is resolved by giving rights to the service.

    Probably means there is a required security setting on the device that only windows 2008 can respond to, so you either have to talk to the storage vendor about enabling 2003 legacy compatibility for security, or upgrade the affected media server to 2008.
