Managed Media Servers seems "No Communication & Unavailable" status

Hello,

We have backupexec 2010 at six location and all of them is connected to Central Administration Server. All Hotfix, SP1 and R3 up to date... There is no update available.

Since two days some Managed Media Servers seems offline & Unavailable..  I can ping to MMS server and telnet to <cas server> using 10000 port.. There is no problem. When i restart the Central Administration Server, All servers seems ONLINE. but after a period time some servers (random) seems unavailable & no comminiciation again.

how can i fix this ?

  • i solved the problem. One person had been given another IP address to second ethernet. and there was two record in DNS.so MMS could not resolve CAS name.. :)

    i fix it.

    thank you very much

  • I've got the same thing...I normally customise the servers under the Managed Media Servers tab on the CASO as connecting with a slower connection, and send updates less regularily.

This has helped quite a bit, but I do still get this on some of the servers on slow links. I see this happening all the time, and most likely due to slow WAN links between the CASO and the MMS. If you have this, make the changes I described above, and if you're able too, see if you can get additional bandwidth for the comms between the CASO and MMS (if you have slow WAN links).

I've learnt to live with this happening at times...

  • You mean if our connection is slow between CAS and MMS we can get error like this ? right ? Now i changed comminication settings to Slow Connection like attach. i hope this can be solution...

  • Yes you might. If the CASO doesn't receive information fast enough it could lead to interuppted comms being displayed even though there is no reason for it.

  • Now 4 MMS server seems online but one MMS status seems "no cominnication". Another MMS status seemd "Comminication stalled". What is it mean ?

I suppose this is not solution :( or I need to wait a little bit more, i dont know.
