We are going to migrate Backup Exec from 2014 to 15 with Windows server 2008R2 to 2012R2. What is the best way for this case?
My plan is as follows:
1. Backup BE 2014 settings, database and others.
2. Upgrate BE 2014 to BE 15 on Windows server 2008R.
3. Backup BE 15 settings, database and others.
4. Reinstall OS Windows 2008R2 to 2012R2.
5. Install BE 15.
6. Restore BE15 settings from backup.

For this step, stop all the BE services and make a copy of the Data and Catalog directories under the BE installation directory.
4. Reinstall OS Windows 2008R2 to 2012R2.
If the server name is the same, then you don't have to do anything afterwards.
6. Restore BE15 settings from backup.
For this step, stop all the BE services and replace the Data and Catalog directories under the BE installation directory with the copy from the step above and then start all the BE service.
