Missing Old data from Old Server

Good Day,

I migrated Backup Exec 2012 from one server to a new server which had a new name.  I got everything working and I was able to restore old data from the old server.

New server had a crash and I had to rebuild.  I found the backup exec folder in the windows.old folder.  I reinstalled Backup Exec 2012 and copied over the Catalogue and Data folder that I found in the windows.old folder.

Now, I can't restore anything from the old server, the date's come up, but when you expand to see what it in it, nothing is there.  I can only see the data from when the new server started working.

I am looking for help on how to get the old data back for restores.

thank you,

Jennifer

  • Run a Catalog job on the tape and try the restore again. The server crash might very well have corrupted the entire installation and BE database.

A catalog job will insert all the relevant information contained on that particular tape back into the fresh BEDB. For future reference, make sure the Data/Catalogs folders are backed up when running your daily backups.

    Thanks!

  • You should re-index your catalog using the procedure in this document
