Move CPS Data to new disk?

Windows Server 2008 Ent.
Backup Exec 12.5

I currently have CPS running along with backup exec on a server with 1 virtual raid 5 disk. I purchased 3 additional drives and I created a new virtual disk. I allocated all of that space to 1 partition (Drive S).

Currently all of my CPS data is on Drive E on Virtual disk 0. I want to move all of the data (450 gigs) to the new virtual disk.

What is the easiest and best way to move all of this data without having to entirely resync all of my servers?

Can I simple do this in the CPS console or should I stop all CPS services and then manually move the data?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

  • Hi,
the best way to move your data to another volume would perhaps be to install Veritas Storage Foundation for Windows, which is free, if you have no more than 4 volumes on the server.
with the SFW you can just move the content from one volume to another without interrupting the server, because the operating system will not "feel" the move.

If you need assistance in doing so, just let me know.

    All the best,
    Oliver
  • Interesting. I'm guessing I would stop the CPS services. Change the CPS data location in the settings. Then move the data to the new location.
Once I restart the server it should come back as if nothing changed.

Am I on the right track?
