move media physically

Hi,

Im new to Symantec and need some help.
Im using Symantec Backup Exec 12 on Windows Server 2003
I have a NAS where i save my media with symantec.
I get the low disk space warning.
Can I move media from my NAS to another location to free space on the drive.
And if I need to restore I want to move the files back to my NAS for restoring.

If I just move the media files from my NAS I still get the low disk space warning.

yes you can, but then you need to manual retire/remove the volume records in the catalog

And if you want to restore from one of them, then you would need to copy the BKF files(s) back to a B2D folder, then inventory/catalog, then create a Restore job

If you were thinking of keeping the data on a networked server somewhere, you could always create one or more B2D folders on that server, the DUPLUCATE the jobs to the new B2D folders.  You could then restore directly from the secondary B2D folders when you need the data

You would need to change your OPP settings for your media set(s) so that the primary B2D folders start ovewriting when the volume becomes full.
