No media recognized in the tape drive

Question

I have a virtual enviornment (ESXi) . One virtual server is the Backup Exec Server, I have added the HP HBA to the Backup Exec Server.

Problem:

The device state has been set to offline because the device attached to the computer is not responding.

Using a SCSI/SAS/FC tape device isn't supported by VMware ESX/ESXi or Backup Exec as SCSI pass-through mode isn't supported.
