one time backup as my baseline for incremental
I created a one time backup to disk for my big file server which is 4 TB in size. Now i want to move it to tape for offiste storage and i think ihave that done successfully. Now i want to run incremental backups based upon that full and move them to tape each week Is there a way to do that or do i need to do create another set of backup jobs where the full goes to disk and then the incremental goes to tape? Thanks.
You would need to create another job to do your full backup again and then use the incremental jobs in that job for your subsequent incremental jobs.
Do note that you need to do your full backup on a periodical basis to shorten the backup chain. When you do a restore you would need to have the full backup and ALL the subsequent incremental backups.
