Oracle server backup

Hi All,

Here  we are going to upgrade our oracle server's firmware. I need to take its backup via backup exec. I am having license of backup exec. But not sure how to use it.
I need best practise doc if available with snap shot. and steps how do i do this easily.
Its bit urgent...
  • 1)  Not if the new and old media servers are running different versions of BackupExec

    2)  If  you copy the existing media server to the new box, and then upgrade that, all your current job, media ser and schedule info should be included in the new server

    See  http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/318321.htm

(This really should have been a new thread)

  • Dear Ken,

Now same has been done, I migrate server successfully.
Now can u please tell me y its not showing oracle agent. My old server was running on same time when i check. But my requirment is
like all client of old backup server comes automatically on my new server with out doing installation of new remote agents.
How i can do this same..???
please reply its urgent because today we will test it.
  • Hmm

Don't know why the Oracle agent didn't tranfer over

You can always add the Oracle serial in yourself.  if you can't find yourcopy, you should be able to call Licensing and get it again
  • I put it in installation time when i was in process of installation...
Is it possible if my old existing server was running then agent will not update on another server.
What root cause can be.. i dont know.. but its critical issue for my client after transffering process they can't wait for another troubleshooting.. so please guide...
  • Only thing I can think of -

If the remote agent was publishing to the old server, change it to publish to the new server.  If that doesn't work, 'fraid you are down to a paid call for support
  • Any one who can help me on this issue....

its too urgent and need help ASAP....
