Overwrite Option

Hi all, I am new to the product so please forgive me for asking simple questions.

I would like to know how to enable an overwrite option for a tape in Backup Exec 12.5 interface?

For now I have to inventory the tape and erase the tape every time before I have to re-use it for backup...

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

    Hello,

    The Overwrite Protection is assigned to the Media Set and the TAPE can be a member of the Media Set, as a result the Media Set Properties will be applied on the TAPE.

    Go to the Devices TAB, Right Click "Media Set"-->New Media Set...Set the Append Period and the Overwrite Protection Period.

    Drag and Drop the TAPE in the Media Set.

    The Overwrite Protection Period starts after the append period is over.

    Example : Append Period : 3 days and Overwrite Protection : 1 Day

    The TAPe associated to this media set will append for 3 days and after the 3rd day is over it will be protected for 1 day (Overwrite protected)
