Problem Installation robotic libraries MSL 6000

Because of my impossible upgrade server Backup Exec 12.0 and it's fully down after VmWare upgrade, I made up my mind to do a new server with BE 13.00 on hardware server.
But I couldn't see my media robotic libraries on server (01backup) :(
What I must do to see it?
I do it for the first time.

In adition.
From other server(backsrv) with backupexec 13.00 I can see libraries of new server.
I attached screenshoot to help understand a problem.
  • Well...

    1. Having more than 1 drive means you need to have extra LEO licenses (Library Expansion Option). For each additional tape drive...1 license is needed. You would need an additional license for the extra drive. Backup Exec ships with 1 free.

    2. Open up Backup Exec, and go Tools --> Wizards --> Tape Device Configuration Wizard --> and choose the option to "Configure robotic Library drives".

#2 is going to bring up a schematic of your library and drives. All you do here is drag your drives to your library, and complete the wizard.

    Cheers!

  • Hi there,

When you installed Backup Exec 2010, did you go ahead and run the Device Configuration Wizard, and then load the Symantec drivers?
The ! marks you are seeing would normally refer to an issue with drivers not being installed correctly. Run that wizard, and then check Device Manager again.
HP 5 is actually your robotic library. HP 3 and HP 4 are your drives. Backup Exec doesn't label them intuitively enough, but you are able to rename them.
Also make sure you have an extra LEO (Library Expansion Option) license to enable the use of the second drive in the MSL6000.

    Post the results here...
  • I solved probles with drive installing all of them them(screenshoot1).
I also execed tapeinst.exe and tried to install tape symntec drivers again. But It also no help.(screenshoot2)
LEO (Library Expansion Option)  - Installed.
I didn't see my robotic libraries- only 2 robot for reading and writing..(screenshoot3)

May be my installation of symantec drivers was not correctly?
    Any another ideas?
  • Could have been...the installation might not necessarily have completed successfully. I normally run the Device Configuration Wizard after installing just to be sure...

If this was the solution, will you close it off?
  • And can't do my backups!
I show two screnshoots with my (NOT WORKING) robotic libraries and on another (WORKING) server.

  • I have done first backup on this server!!! And my JoY very-very BIG!
How you can iunderstand that i install only one license of LEO?!))) Professional!

You status must be not '"Trusted Advisor"!
It must be "Guru Advisor" ))))

  • =)
I actually went through the same thing. I don't think that many people consider this when they load up Backup Exec in use with a library.
I am glad it worked out for you!
