Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued (Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R3)

Hi all,

Here my environnement:

An autoloader HP 1x8 G2, a server ESXi 4.1 on a Proliand DL180 G6 , a vm 2008 r2 with Symantec Backup Exec 2010 SP3.

I noticed that all time i have an error when i backup (Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued) my VM becomes unreachable (seems to freeze).

Any ideas?

    First thank you for your quick response! It seems all good.. This error only occurs when Symantec cannot backup (media cannot be load, media cannot be verify, etc..) Thanks

    ...against my advice, this was done for 1 of our clients. Big problems! Your issue won't be with BE...it's going to be when the tape library connection is lost between the ESX host and the HBA.

    The only way around this will be to restart your ESX host. When it works, it works well (even when unsupported)...when it doesn't, it is a nightmare to solve! Stick with a physical server as your media server as suggested above.
