Restore and redirect av old Exchange mailbox
Hi,
I want to restore an Exchange-mailbox from tape taken on a old Exchange 2003-server and redirect it to another mailbox on an Exchange 2010-server, I'm using Backup Exec 2010R2 for this. However it is a couple of radio-buttons I don't really understand.
I set up the restore job as follows:
* Select the mailbox I want to restore
* Set up the Exchange redirect in Exchange by specifying the new server and the target-mailbox.
The config I am not sure about is the config in the "Microsoft Exchange"-section. The buttons for transaction logs, commit and mount are active even if I only want to restore a single mailbox, not the complete database. Is this correct? What will happen with the transaction logs from the old server
Also, the backup was taken on a Exchange 2003-server and I want to restore it to a Exchange 2010-server, is this a problem?
Last question: If I redirect to an existing mailbox on the Exchange 2010-server, will it be redirected to a subfolder or will it be merged with the existing data in the mailbox?
Please see the attached document for screenshots.
This is not possible in Backup Exec. You can dig down only upto mailbox level, You cannot ask Backup Exec to restore it to a particular subfolder.
One thing which you can try is, restore this mailbox to a temporary mailbox, create a pst and import it in the mailbox to which you actually wanted to restore.
