Restore Data backedup through NTbackup
Hi Experts,
I need to restore data from tape being backed up thru WindowsNT.I had tried the following steps
1.Inventory the tape in Backupexec 2012-Successfull
Upon inventory the tape shows as Retired Media
2.Catalog the tape-Fails
The catalog job runs forever untill cancelled
The tape drive picks and leaves the tape
Is there any technote for Backupexec 2012 which shows how to restore data backedup in other environment and other backup software

- No. There is no guarantee that you will be able to restore a backup taken with another software. More often than not, the catalog or the restore will fail
...this doesn't really work. Tried it myself actually with a site server that failed, and we had to revert to data backed up by BE from 2 months before.
While BE writes in the *.bkf file format, and MIGHT be able to restore the same files from NTbackup, it really struggles. I never got it right.
Check the MS link below if you are running Server 2008 (as tagged!) and see if you can restore with this official utility:
