Restore from incomplete backup set

Hi,

i have a BE12 environment that uses a Fujitsu VTL for backup.

i need to do a restore but some of the tapes used by the backup job have been overwritten.

can i catalog only the remaining ones and see if i can findthe required files there?

or is there any other way to do a restore from an incomplete backup set?

    While cataloging BE follows the media sequence, you need to disable that option.

    In BE console click on Tools->Options->Catalogs->uncheck "request all media in sequence"

    You will have to catalog individual tapes.

    When the tape is catalogged you will be able to see the data present on the tape and that should be restored without any problem. But suppose some information about the file or folder is not present on this tape and is overwritten then you will have to skip restoring that file/folder.
