Silly question re: RALUS versions

After updating my BackupExec 2010R2 server, there were .tar.gz patches for the Linux agents. I sftp'ed the file to one of the servers and installed it.

Now the /var/VRTSralus/ralus.ver file reads:

ralus=4164.107.138226
mdm=MDM_v0.0.5071
vxms=VxMS_v4.4-036

And on my other Linux servers (on which the patch has not been installed):

ralus=4164.5
mdm=MDM_v0.0.5071
vxms=VxMS_v4.4-036

Out of 4164.5 and 4164.107.138226, which is the higher/newer version?

  • Hello

    When you install RALUS the version is 4164.5. There are 2 updates available for R2.

     I installed the HF358289, ralus.ver was showing as 4164.358289

    Then I installed HF138226, ralus.ver was showing as 4164.107.138226

    Bottomline 4164.107.138226 is the latest version of ralus.

  • The two patches are independent of each other so rightfully there is no newer or older version.  It is just that HP238226 is released later and when it is applied later, the version file reflect this.

  • The updates mentioned above are for RMAL servers only, correct? It doesn't look like they apply to ralus agents that aren't also media servers. Or will it apply anyway?

  • These updates are for Remote agent for Linux, Solaris & Mac.
