snapshot processing hangs in backupexec 2010

I had received a notification in Symantec to install two patches. After doing the Liveupdate and installing the patches, everytime the snapshot processing runs in the job, the jobs are hanging and there is no further progress. If i try to cancel the jobs, it gives me the status as Cancel pending. Then my only option is to restart the server. This has been going on after the hotfixes were applied. All the agents on the  remote servers however have not been patched up yet. Has this got any connection with the issue?
