  • It depends on the OS used in the appliance.  Check the SCL below to make sure that it is supported.

    BE 2010|2010 R2|2010 R3 Software (SCL)

    Also, the appliance may be locked down and you cannot load the remote agent in it.

    Have you considered using the BE AVVI agent?  If you use this agent, then you can backup your VM's as VM's using BE and avoid having a 2-stage backup.

  • If you are backing up virtual machiens with both VMware VDP and Backup Exec then you may have scheduling (job order) issues when backing up database technologies that require handing of transaction logs.

    As be aware that running two backup products is likely to affect change block tracking and may therefore cause issues with incremental and differential backups. (affecting either BE or VDP or both)
