System State / SDR Failure
Having some issues with Simplified Disaster Recovery / System State. My backup exec server (VM-Back) is in VLAN1. If my target server (VM-BT) is in VLAN1, everything works fine. I can make a full file backup and backup the System State and make a usable Simplified Recovery Disk.
If I try to use my Backup Exec server (VM-Back) in VLAN1 to backup a server (VM-BT) in VLAN2, the SDR/System State fails. All of the files back up, but I ultimately get a message:
Final error: 0xe00084f9 - A communications failure has occurred between the Backup Exec job engine and the Agent for Windows. Final error category: Resource Errors |
V-79-57344-41488 - Due to one or more errors in \\vm-bt\System?State, this backup cannot be used for conversion to virtual machines, Simplified Disaster Recovery (SDR), or a complete online restore. |
If I move the server (VM-BT) from VLAN2 to VLAN1, it works fine. If I move the Backup Exec server (VM-Back) from VLAN1 to VLAN2 I can back up anything in VLAN2 with no problems. I only seem to be having issues when the Backup Exec server is in a VLAN different from the destination server.
Our network and firewall team tell me that nothing is being blocked on the firewall between VLANs.
Windows firewall is disabled.
I can test the credentials being used and it is successful from any VLAN.
The same configuration that works on the same VLAN fails when the server is moved to a different VLAN which makes me think it is a firewall issue. Is there a specific port that perhaps needs to be opened just for the System State to backup between VLAN's?
