tape issue

Hi,

One of our tape that I am sure has data on it shows no backup set. I did change the tape from one slot to other slot of library but after scan and inventory still show nothing.

should I run the catalog on that slot? how long would take to catalog  a tape in BE 15?

  • There is no difference between the two tapes, both are empty.  Take a look at the capacity used which is 0.

The difference in the colour is just an indication of which tape is write-protected.

  • A scan or an inventory does not reveal the contents of a tape. You need to catalog the tape. The amount of time that it takes to catalog a tape friends on the contents of the tape, the CPU of the media server, etc. so there is no easy to tell beforehand. Just catalog the tape and find out
  • In the Storage tab, click on the tape and then click on Backup Sets to see what backup sets are on the tape
  • HI PKH,

I already done that and it says no backup set is availble. I tought maybe I forgot and there isNO data on the tape so I did put a new tape in other slot and erase it but as you can see (in the screenshot) the tape has no data on it it look different that problematic tape.

    Thanks

  • HI pkh,

I think you are right and there is no data on this tape. I did go trough my list of tapes and I dont see this tape as a Tape with data on it. the difference between the 2 tapes in the previous screenshot is thst, the problematic tape was not in the scratch media set and the other tape was in the scratch media set.

    Thanks
