tape loader going offline when trying to do inventory or at backup time

when i schedule an inventory then the following messages come

 

 

The drive hardware is offline.
 
Please confirm that the drive hardware is powered on and properly cabled.
 
also
 
Inventory Device 00077 -- The job failed with the following error: Physical Volume Library Drive or Robot paused, offline, or disabled.

    ...glad my suggestion worked.

    Normally when you install BE, it would add this as standard selection. It could be that someone inadvertantly deselected it for whatever reason, or it was deselected during a patch upgrade.

    What's the make/model of the tape changer?

    When did this start?

    What's the interconnect? (SCSI, SAC, FC, etc...)

    What steps have you taken to troubleshoot the problem?

    Does it go offline with all tape or only certain ones?

    Have you tried powering off/on the tape changer?

    Have you cleaned the drive with a known good cleaning tape?

    Does the tape changer have a console?  (front LCd panel or via IP?) If so, are there any errors being displayed?

    Are there obvious LEDs illuminated which appear to be a sign of alarm? Is it red ir amber?

    What alerts (if any) from the autoloader are posted in the Windows System and/or Application Event logs?

    make / model - HP STORAGE WORKS 1/8 G2 TAPE AUTOLOADER ULTRIUM 1760 BACKUP TAPE DRIVE

    problem started a few days back

     

    interconnect  -SCSI

    goes offline with all tapes

    tried poweroff - not solved

    havnt done clean using a cleaning tape

    using console of Tape loader , able to move the tapes and do everthing else

    but when a job is scheduled it goes offline

    no red or amber indication in the loader

    In event properties of window following warning are showing

     

    1. Backup Exec Alert: Job Failed

    (Server: "ZBKUP") (Job: "Inventory Device 00084") Inventory Device 00084 -- The job failed with the following error: The parameter is incorrect.

    The below error cant understand - license error???

    This server is licensed to support 0 tape drives in robotic libraries. However, the number of tape drives currently in use exceeds the license. You must purchase additional Library Expansion Options, or disable 1 tape drive. Please refer to product documentation for more information.

    in license information , it shows Library Expansion Option as YES

    ...you don't LEO at all with 1 drive. Deselect that option, and make sure the option for Robotic Library Support is enabled...
