I need restore a server 2008 to a new server, still a 2008 but the hardware/drives are different.
Can I use SDR with the corresponding recover disk to do this? How do I do this kind of recovery?
Yes, provided the backup is SDR-enabled, i.e. the SDR light is on.
You would need the supply the necessary drivers for the new hardware on the SDR disk. SDR will restore the OS from the backup. There is no need to load the OS on the new machine beforehand.
Do read the chapter in the Admin Guide for SDR before proceeding.
