VSS snapshot warnings in BER12

hiya,

:BER12 on SBS 2008

Was seeing:

VSS Snapshot warning. File c:\windows\system32\wdfcoinstaller01009.dll is not present on the snapshot.

VSS Snapshot warning. File c:\windows\system32\drivers\genericmount.sys is not present on the snapshot.

Re the first: found an accepted solution on this forum that involved simply creating a txt file and renaming it wdfcoinstaller01009.dll at that location; seemed to do the trick.

The second warning persists. This is a BER file used in mouting images yeah?  Can find no reference to this warning anywhere. Please advise.

cheers,

  • Hi,

This happens when a software application is removed incorrectly, or not uninstalled incorrectly. You can try excluding this file from the backups.

    Thanks!

  • Andy,

Both of the files mentioned above belonged to Backup Exec System Recovery(BESR). I assume that you might have used BESR in the past and might have uninstalled it.

The files belong to the GENERIC MOUNT CONTROL DEVICE which would be visible in the Device Manager after enabling Show Hidden Devices by clicking on View > Show Hidden Devices.

If it has an Exclamation mark on it, then the application might not have been removed completely.

Please let me know if that is the case.
