Windows Server 2003 Upgrade killed BE 9.0

Greetings,

I have just completed a server upgrade from Windows 2000 Server to Windows Server 2003. Now the Backup Exec key services will not start.

In the Event Log, I see Event 7001 and 7023 - "The database specified does not exist"

When trying to start the Media Service, I receive Error 1065.

I reviewed the KB and attempted the proposed solutions found in articles 265051 and 274102. Neither of these solved my problem, so now I am turning to the real experts - you!

  • Are you on build 4454? if not upgrade to that, since it is the minimum build that supports W2K3 see http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/252678.htm

You can also try the free upgrade to v9.1

    v9.1 here

    SP4a here

  • Ken,

Thanks for your suggestion. I installed Version 9.1 on Friday, but I am still getting the same error message. I look in the Services MMC and see that the MSSQL Database is running, so I am not sure what it is not finding.

  • Sorry, didn't really read your original post - just kinda scanned it

Go to the product support page for BackupExec

    http://support.veritas.com/menu_ddProduct_BEWNT.htm

and enter "database specified does not exist" as the search string, filter for v9.1, all words, and Tech Notes

    ou should get several hits
  • I checked the knowledgebase as you suggested and found http://support.veritas.com/docs/274102 particularly helpful. After I detached and reattached the database, I was able to get into the UI and confirm my jobs.
