Patching Redhat with Infoscale 7.0.100

Hi,all

For security reason I need to patching  only os Redhat 6.7  2.6.32-573 ( Infoscale 7.0 patch 100 running on this release), and probably this  activity will change the rhn kernel version.

It's possibile to change kernel without impact on VCS compatibility ? What about Veritas support? It's possible to open a case in the future?

Thank a lot

Ricky

But, what happen if I apply a redhat kernel patch for bug fix (example kernel-2.6.32-696.10.1.el6.x86_64.rpm - out of matrix Infoscale 7.0.1  ), Vcs always working or not? And if Works Can I open a new case in the future?

      Thanks a lot

      Rick

I'm pretty sure it will work considering the RH ABI compatibility guarantee and the generic RHEL kernel support statement (see below), but for Veritas to support the patch it has to be qualified, in my experience if you just reach out to your SE in Veritas and ask them to qualify the build it could be qualified reasonably quickly.

Officially you have a leg to stand on as per the release notes "All subsequent kernel versions and patch releases on the supported operating system levels are supported, but you should check the Symantec Operations Readiness Tools (SORT) website for additional information that applies to the exact kernel version for which you plan to deploy." https://sort.symantec.com/public/documents/vstore/7.0/linux/productguides/html/infoscale_notes/ch07s01s01.htm

so I don't think Veritas can refuse to support you, but I'd just ask SE to be sure.
