Access to research folder of ex-employee

Hi,

One of user needs to access a research folder created by co-worker who already left the company.Even with administrator permission, we are not able to access the role assignment tab to change the permission. As far as I know, only the folder owner can change the permission. But in our case, since the folder owner already left the company, we are left with no option.

Is there anyway to achieve this or does this require an enhancement from symantec?

  • You can contact support and they can assist you in granting rights to the employee that needs it.  You issue is similar to this:

User migrated to a new domain has lost access to cases and research folders.

If the CA department, DA case or Research Folder is owned by the user's previous domain account and that domain is no longer available for login validation, contact Symantec Enterprise Vault Support for assistance to remove and replace the ownership and Role Assignments.

  • On the Application tab I think you can add the user and give them the Research Role (maybe Admin role) then they can go to the Research tab and should be able to see the Role Assignment tab and grant folder roles. Any luck with trying that?

  • i think by default the administrator doesnt have the necessary permissions but the administrator can do in and grant it to himself. then relaunch the client and you can get in to change the permissions on other user's folders.
