DA and FSA - Legal Holds

Hi

Running EV/DA9.0.2

I am wondering what strategies are used when putting FSA items on legal hold.

Is there any mechanism to find FSA data in a DA search besides using file name?

Let's say I plan on archiving a bunch of items in "Folder A" on my file system.

I also want to have an associated DA case called "Folder A" that will find all of the items in the "Folder A" on my file system and put them on legal hold.

Short of having each case in a separate archive, or putting a unique identifier on each file like a file name prefix (which will mess up original metadata), I can't think of a way to do this.

There does not seems to be any custom filtering options in EV9 for FSA (I understand that may have changed for EV10).

Any advice would be appreciated!

  • Looking at this a bit more, I found this, so I am pretty sure if you use LOCN in the Custom attributes  section of the DA Search it will work for you.

Unable to search archived items from a sub-folder in the user's archive using LOCN attribute.

  • Have you tried using locn?

You can also read about this in the Reviewer Guide for DA 9:

    About the search attributes

Table 3-2 lists all the available attributes. For each attribute, the table shows the operators that you can use with the attribute, and describes its purpose.

    OriginalLocation

Use OriginalLocation to add a condition that is based on the original location of the email or file. For example:

    • Inbox

    • Sent items

    • \\server\share\Sales

Enclose phrases in double quotation marks ("). If you select the ANYOF or NOT ANYOF operator, you can separate multiple values with commas.

  • That looks perfect! I was looking at an older article which did not list that custom attribute.

    Thanks very much.
