Plans to upgrade Enterprise Vault from 9 (32bit) to 10 (64-bit)

We are currently running EV and DA in the following configuration:

Single EV site

2 EV MailArchive Servers (Windows 2003 Std SP2 32-bit, EV 9.0.5)

1 EV MailJournal Server (Windows 2003  Std SP2 32-bit, EV 9.0.5)

1 DA Server  (Windows 2003 Std SP2 32-bit, EV 9.0.5)

 

We need to upgrade to EV 10 to support Exchange 2013.  What has thrown a wrench in the clockworks is that there is no migration path from DA 9.0.5 to DA 10.  Only from DA 9.0.5 to DA 11.

I know that DA11 would be compatible with EV10, but from what I've read, DA11 requires the EV10 binaries installed.

So the question is, will the DA11 server with EV10 binaries work in the environment until we upgrade the EV9 servers to EV10?

Has anyone done the upgrade from DA 9.0.5 to DA 11?

    My error.  It looks like you'll need to upgrade all your servers to EV10 and then upgrade DA to DA11.  It should still work.  I'm running DA11 on EV10.0.4 right now.

    Tech Support has recommended the following:

     

    1) Migrate DA 9.0.5 from 32-bit server to 64-bit server

    2) Upgrade DA from 9.0.5 to 11.0

    3) Migrate the EV 9.0.5 32-bit servers to EV 10.0.4 64-bit servers

    4) Upgrade EV on the DA server to 10.0.4

    My error.  It looks like you'll need to upgrade all your servers to EV10 and then upgrade DA to DA11.  It should still work.  I'm running DA11 on EV10.0.4 right now.

    Thanks WitSend, but DA 9.0.5 cannot be upgraded to DA 10, according to the documented upgrade paths

    Short answer is No.  All servers must have the same EV binaries installed.  DA11 will run on top of an EV10 binary. 

    Below is the upgrade path for DA.  You'll have to do a 2-step upgrade of DA, first to DA10 or 10.1 then to 10.4.

    Supported upgrade paths

    You can upgrade to Discovery Accelerator 10.0.4 from the following versions only:

    • Discovery Accelerator 8.0 SP5
    • Discovery Accelerator 9.0.4
    • Discovery Accelerator 10.0 original release, 10.0.1, 10.0.2, or 10.0.3
