Difference between eDiscovery and Discovery Accelerator

I am struggling to get my head round the difference between discovery accelerator and ediscovery platform. Can anyone help with some bullet points of the main differences. Is Discovery accelerator just an add on to Enterprise Vault but eDiscovery is its own seperate and more powerful discovery tool?

  • Hello max_sand1,

There are a lot of differences and also some similarities between the two, but the major difference is that eDiscovery Platform is an end-to-end eDiscovery solution which covers every stage of the EDRM workflow http://www.edrm.net/resources/edrm-stages-explained while Discovery Accelerator doesn't.

Here's some of the highlights of what each can do:

    eDiscovery Platform

    • Can send Legal Hold notices to Custodians of data
    • Can collect data from multiple data sources to include Enterprise Vault (Exchange, Domino, FSA), Exchange (on-prem and O365), Sharepoint, PC, File Share, etc.
    • Can place data on hold in Enterprise Vault
    • Provides ECA capability
    • Can index data from multiple data sources and loose files to make searchable
    • Can produce data to include Bates stamping, imaging and redaction
    • Can export data in Metadata, Production and Native formats

    Discovery Accelerator

    • Can only search data within Enterprise Vault
    • Can place data on hold in Enterprise Vault
    • Can export data in PST format

That's what I got. I hope that helps :robothappy:
