11.1chf3 Restore to original location does not take subfolder

Hello all,

I have a user who wants to restore an item from his archive to the original location.

According to the EVS, the item sits in :

\lastname, a (abcd)\.a&B\aaa bbbbbbbbbb ccccccccc\2014\20140531 aaaaa bbbbbbbbbb ccccccccccccc\

When restoring, the item is restored to:

\lastname, a (abcd)\.a&B\aaa bbbbbbbbbb ccccccccc\2014\

Is there a limit to the length of the folder listed? Any other possibility?

(I anonimized the obvious names, but have the same amount of characters here)

Restoring to 'restored items folder' works fine.

thanks,

Gertjan.

  • How are you seeing which folder the item is in, in the archive? When you restore, are you restoring using the option 'same folder as shortcut', or are you picking the folder using 'Other folder' ?  I've just done this with 11.0.1 CHF1, and it works (using the structure you outlined at the top of this message)

  • I'll get more information. I am leaning on 2nd line support to gather information for me.

    Thanks Rob.

  • Some more testing revealed it seems to be indeed working as customer describes.

    I reproduced as follows:

Created folder under root in mailbox: G&A\new long foldername\2014\20140530 some international companyname\

Moved 3 shortcuts from a folder \2014\112014 to this new folder

Ran the archiving task for my archive in 'shortcut processing' mode.

Verified in my archive the items not show in newly created folder, and no longer exist in original folder.

in EVS, selected one item in the new folder, rightclick, restore to current location.

In the popup, I verified it showed: restore to mailbox Gertjan.Alink\G&A\new long foldername\2014\20140530 some international companyname\

Verified in Outlook in new folder - no item.

Verified in Outlook in 'old folder' (2014\112014) - there was the item!

It looks like after the 'update shortcut location has ran', it indeed moves the item in the archive, but it also looks like some value (source folder?) is making EV restore the item to the old location.

Can someone confirm when following above steps they see the same issue?

    Thanks.

    Gertjan.
