Access Denied error when ennabling Auditing. EV 7.5

Hello,

I am trying to enalbed auditing on EV 7.5 and getting "access denied" error for my SQL server.

\\DBserver is not accessible

Access is denied

I am logged onto the EV server with my vault service account and EV is running fine.  Vault login exists in SQL with the dbcreator and public roles.

Can anyone tell me what I need to do here?

Thanks for any input!

  • I rebooted my server but it still was giving the error.  I was able to find the fix after all.  The vault service account must have local admin rights on the SQL server.

    Thanks-

  • on the sql server itself, do you see any errors/warnings/info thrown by the sql server itself or in the security logs with an access denied there?

may need a dtrace to be honest

  • probably need to enable SQL Analyser Trace on the SQL server too.....Are the EV SQL databases located on the same SQL server as the one you are enabling the Auditing database for? sorry for the obvious question but during the process of enabling EV auditing are you using the same SQL server as the one already used for EV and same instance etc?

  • My server is acting up a little and might need a reboot.  I can launch comp mgmt to chekc logs.

Yes, the SQL is the same.  Actaully when I try to enable auditing and browse for the new DB directory it automatically picks the same SQL server.  I am going to rebott this server and proceed from there.

    thanks, I will report back.
