Hi, We are about to roll out EV 10 SP2 into production (been in test for about 12 months!!). Management is keen on 2 40 person pilots then enable for everyone else at the same time, about 1000 users and 2200 mailboxes (Exchange 2010). I have concerns around the big bang, whether the server will handle the load or take weeks to work through the backlog, let alone people downloading Virtual Vault information all at the same time and the queues that will create on the server. I am not sure how many messages there will be in total to archive to work out say 50,000 msgs/hr, therefore I'll need X nuber of hours for the initial run. What has been people's experience with such an approach? Thanks.

As Rob said it depends entirely on settings (policy, mailbox, storage, network and EV Servers)

We usually recommend that you set the policies up to archive items only after x number of years/months (depending on mailbox contents) then slowly bring that number of years/months down as the Archiving runs have done the majority of the work for the previous setting.

There is the setting to archive large items first too which can help with the archiving run as we get the 'hard work' out of the way on the first few runs.

But as I said in the beginning, what Rob said in the first post is your answer, it depends entirely on so many aspects that you either need to give us some general specs or give those specs to a partner to give you a 'guestimation' on load/time, it is one of those 'as long as a piece of string' questions unfortunately, anyone that tells you it will take x days is incorrect as no one can say for sure.

Thanks guys. I thought it would be a bit up in the air. Attempting to get some data out of Exchange to judge the number of items and go from there. Cheers.
