Enterprise Evault 11

Hello everyone, I inherited a customer with Symantec Enterprise Evault 11 configured. I need to export data from Evault so I have to export it and then remove it, but I can't find a way to do it in bulk. Even though I enabled move and delete in the search policy, the options in the search archive don't appear.

Thanks in advance for your help

On 11, even if I enable the "Move and Delete" options in the search policy, obviously the "Administrators" option remains grayed out. If I add a user to the provisioning group, it is enabled, but the "Move" and "Delete" options do not appear. Obviously, "Move" moves the file to another Enterprise Evault repository, so I have to use "Export," which appears, but it gives me the option to export one item at a time. It downloads it as a browser download without recreating the folder path. So, I should be able to automatically export a portion of the file I have in the 6 Enterprise Evault 11 repo archives. Thank you very much for your time. I look forward to your reply.

Hi, sorry, can this utility help me?

  • Hello maayers81,

you can user a Export-EVArchive cmdlets. If you need help to create a powershell script just indicate.

I have a situation where  we need to export the ev archive, up to now we exported manual, because of this post I'm create a script for our use.

Please check if EV 11 has this command, as its not support there are no documentation online

  • Hi, first of all, thanks so much for the reply. I don't have that command in PowerShell. What can I do? Do I have to update?

Hi, did you use "Enterprise Vault Management Shell" or the normal windows PowerShell.

From the post on VOX 8 years ago maybe EV11 should had the cmdlets

I know that Enterprise Vault 12 was the command. I believe that you are decommission the server, if not you should upgrade to a new version (EV 12.5) and then to EV 15.2, if you are removing the server just upgrade to EV 12.5 if possible.

  • I need to export a lot of data so I need to find a solution. Could you please help me? I currently have Windows 2008 R2. I think Windows 15 requires a more advanced OS. However, I should get to the release that allows me to export. Then I'm OK. Do I need upgrade licenses? Thanks.

  • I was wrong, I meant to say Enterprise Vault 15 requires a more up-to-date operating system :)

  • Hi,

Enterprise Vault 11 can only upgrade to EV12, if you are not keeping the server just do an in-place upgrade to EV12 and export the archive using the powershell cmdlet.

You can also export using the Enterprise Vault Admin Console:

    1. Open the Enterprise Vault Admin Console: Access the console and navigate to the "Archives" section.
    2. Right-click on the archive: Select the archive you want to export and right-click it, then choose "Export and import as a PST files".
    3. Follow the wizard: The wizard will guide you through the export process, allowing you to specify the source archive, output directory, and format (PST).
    4. Filter options: You can filter the export by date range or retention category.
    5. PST file management: The wizard can manage PST file sizes and automatically create numbered sequences of files if the maximum size is reached.

This way add more work, but you going to do this just once.

HI, Just download da EV 11 ISO and the Export-EVArchive is not present.

So if you don't and to user Vault Admin Console you need to upgrade to 12.5.

That what I did, I upgrade from 11.0.1 to 12.5, I was look over my note I did an in-place upgrade. (I upgraded from 11.0.1 to  12.5 to 14.1 because there was not an upgrade path to EV14)

      Can you describe your infrastructure:

EV Server, Sql Server (that support EV), nÂș of users, what was archive Exchange/Lotus/files/etc.

Hi, archives are file systems, not email. If I select the archive, the only option I have is "Search Archive." It opens a web interface where I can set filters, but I can't perform bulk exports, only one item at a time. I also set the "Move" and "Delete" options in the default search policy, but nothing changes.

Hi, thank you for your support, you're very kind. I have two Enterprise Evault servers with a management console, a Microsoft SQL Server DB, and two file servers. My data is all files, but I don't have a mailbox. All operating systems are Windows 2008 R2. Thank you very much.

  • you will need some upgrade steps to get there >>12.5 >> 14 >> 15 (main release). Also you need to move to newer server OS. EV12 needs Win 2012-2022. EV 14/15 run on 2016-2025 (atleast EV14.5). Which means the target EV server should be 2022, it needs to be EV12.5 then you can upgrade on the new server. Also SQL Server Version should be fitting for the versions. If youve moved to 12.5 you can use the server migration wizard. Also keep in mind that Indexes need to be reindexed for new index, maybe inportant for very large archives.

also keep in mind, you will only get official support if you move to a more current version, support for 11.x ended somewhere in 2019.
