Enterprise Vault and NetApp integration

The current procedures of EV require that EV user must be a member of the local admin group in a NetApp system to be able to archive. We see there is a high risk in performing such configuration since the user will have a full admin access to the NetApp system.

I believe that there should be a workaround provided by Symantec to allow EV to perform data archiving on NetApp shares by providing specific roles/capabilities to EV user. Is this possible?

  • It's a documented reality, unfortunately:

I'm not sure I agree with your suggestion of it being a security risk..  the Vault Admin Account is after an administrator on the local EV server too... and requires significant access to other areas, eg if you're doing Exchange server archiving.

If you feel strongly that it should be 'different', I would suggest:

    - Log an idea in the Ideas section on the forum

    - Talk to a Symantec account manager.

  • Thanks for your suggestions Rob. We are already in contact with Symantec but I wanted to see if others share the same concern with me.
