Enterprise Vault FSA is it possible to save to (D2D2T) Disk to Disk to Tape?

Hi Guys,

We are planning to use EV-FSA is it possible to save to two different disk 50/50 of data and tape out?

Is it also possible to save to VTL (Virtual Tape Library) and Disk to Physical Tape?

Thank you for the answer.

Regards,

Ton

  • Yes, but not directly, you need something like export to NetBackup using EV Migrator to achive this.

Nope, it will not work this way - you need a space for something like an NTFS partition where the archived data will be stored, collected and then migrated and it cannot be a VTL. Also you need an entire infrastructure such as NetBackup with its servers and storage to export to tape. It's not a cheap solution and not a simple one to maintain, you may find that a cheap SATA storage will likely be way cheaper than the cost of NBU licenses + servers + tape library.

What you want is EV as an HSM and while it can work in this capacity, its economy only make sense with large data volumes of infrequently accessed incompressable or encrypted data which is best stored on a tape media.
