Enterprise Vault manual archive not working

Guys,

I am having trouble with manual archivingsad
When users try to archive mails manually, the EV shows the following error.
“Could not process the selected item. Reason: Server error has occurred”, Please find the screenshot for more information.

I am useing EV 2007 SP3 (Mailbox archiving only), Exchange 2003 SP2 and Outlook 2003.
Please let me know your advice.

  • So yeah a couple of things
    1. Are you using the Full DCOM client or the Lite HTTP only client?
    2. Have you tried using one instead of the other? (Usually HTTP is the more reliable than DCOM)
    3. Are any errors being logged on the EV server?
    4. Is the Storage Service up and running?
    5. Is the Archive Task up and running?
    6. Do you have Open (not closed or Ready) partitions in your vault stores?
    7. Is the Storage Service in read only mode? (if it is, take it out of read only mode)?
    8. Has this ever worked?
    9. What changed to make it stop working?
    10. Can the users resolve the DNS names for the EV Server?
    11. Can users access Archive Explorer and Search.asp ok?
           (i.e. http://yourEVServer/EnterpriseVault/ArchiveExplorerui.asp)
    12. If you go to Help -> About Enterprise Vault and then hit Tech Info, do you see any obvious errors?
    13. If you have OWA set up, does OWA function correctly?

  • Ask the user to login to different machine and see if he is able to archive ..
    If yes Run Resetevclient.exe and try archiving again
