Enterprise vault Outlook AddIn causes Offline Address Book to hang on send/recive?

    Hello all,

recently i have implemented EV in my company and everything works fine except one problem with "Send/recive" function in Outlook 2007.

After pressing "Send/recive" the task just hangs (in the details section it says "Offline address book Connecting to Microsoft Exchange"). No error messages no nothing.

The problem started to occur after installing Eneterprise Vault client.

I have tried reinstalling EV client, recreating OAB, recreating exchange profile, disabling all possible addons in Outlook but nothing helps.

The configuration is:
1 Exchange 2007 Mailbox role
1 Exchange 2007 CAS role
we are using Enterprise Vault 7.5 SP2

Any ideas or simillar expirences?

  • Hi,

So you disabled the EV Outlook add-in and the issue remains.
The EV client really shouldn't have any affect at all on send/receive.
  • Hi,

i have disabled ther addin, even completely removed it form computer, but the problem persists. Also tried disabling every other addin in Outlook but no help. Wll try to reinstall Otlook which is not realy an option cause we plan a 5 000 workstations implementation.

Didnt mention this before but the client OS is Vista SP1.

Users can normally use EV and acces their archives, search, restore, delete but as soon we put the client on the computer Send/recive hangs.

Tried to use "oabinteg" and tests pass with no error.

    Best regards,

  •     Hello,

i have just find out that the problem appears regardless of the Outlook Addin. (i have installed fresh OS and fresh Outlook 2007 in Vmvare without Outlook addin and the issue persists)

The problem appears as soon as the users mails are archived.

    Any thoughts?

    Regards, Kresimir

  • Hi,

The only thing that makes sense, is if it's some kind of forms issue.  Try installing the EV form into your personal forms library.

  •     Hi,

the forms are in Personal library because i have set mailbox policy to "Always deploy" as i have not implemented public folders on Exchange 2007 for distribution of forms.Tried to clear cache delete them and reinstall them manually but no help.
Is the public folder method mandatory for deployment of forms on Exchange 2007?

    Best regards,
    Kresimir

  •    Mea coulpa...

The problem was not with the EV addon.. in the same time we have archived mailboxes another department had recovered CAS form failure and disabled OAB.

It all works fine now... sry for taking your time.

    Best regards,
