Enterprise Vault Search failed

Unable to search any Archive items either through outlook or browser and cant see the usage report as well. Find the screen shot attached.

  • To me it sounds like you have many issues here.

    1) Usage report issue

Set the Listvaults.asp and usage.asp to not use IWA and ensure you are using teh VSA to autneticate:

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH37883

    2) No archives showing in the search.asp page

To me . . I think this occurs when there are no permissions assigned to the specific account that is authetnicating to the search page. People frequently think Exchange Admin accounts or the VSA automagically get permission to all the users archives. . .this is not the case. Ensure you are using an account with proper permisisons

    3) no results returning for archives which can be searched:

To me. .  this seems like the archived content (although it cannot be confirmed due to issue 1) has not been indexed and you are having an issue indexing this content. Just because the items are stored, does not mean they will show in a search. THey have to be stored AND indexed prior to populating in a search result.

    Hope this helps.

  • I have installed SQL reporting service on EV server and its also configured. Secondly i hve run every thing in Indexing wizard option and no error is generated.

    Verify indexing Successful.

    Rebuid indexing Successful.

    Now wht to do.

  •

Usage page is now accessbale and reporting is also done now only one thing left that is searching so can any one let me know y i cant able to search archives.

  •

The utility mention in this technote is not available in the installation directory. Please note that i have Enterprise Vault 10.

  • It's because the index tools etc. are part of the VAC as of EV10.

As I mentioned above, you need to have a look at the EV10 Admin guide under Managing Indexes, from the guide:

    Using the indexing wizards

To run the indexing wizards, your user account must be assigned the Indexing

    Administrator role.

    See Roles-based administrationon page 26.

The indexing wizards are all accessible from the Indexing Summary page in the

    Administration Console.

To run the Manage Indexes Wizard from Indexing Summary page

1 In the left pane of the Administration Console, click the Indexing container.

2 In the right pane, click Manage Indexes.

The Manage Indexes Wizard is also accessible from the following places in the

    Administration Console:

    Common Tasks

The Indexing container, and the containers beneath it

The Archive Properties: Index Volumes tab
