EV 10.0 Not Archiving Calendar Items

I've got a bunch of mailboxes that I want to fully archive. I've set the policy archive the lot and I've found that some of the mailboxes still have calendar items in them. I can't figure out why they aren't archiving. Looking at a trace on the server it analyses them and decides that they don't need archiving. Archive Unexpired Calendar Events is turned On.

    How is the Mailbox policy configured? Is it based on Age or Quata or both?

    Check if the Calendar Message class has been selected in the mailbox policy >> Message classes option.

    It should show IPM.Appointment checked,

    Additionally, calendar items are non-shortcut items, meaning after archivng the calendar items, EV will not convert them into Shortcuts. So by looking the calendar, you may not be able to confirm whether it has been archived or not. You can check for these items in Archive Explorer to confirm if they are getting archived.

    The policy is set to archive anything older than 0 days, so should be okay there. Is it possible to get EV to remove the original items? Or is this by design?

    Thats by design, there were issues in the past with reccurring meetings due to which the behaviour has been changed for calendar items. Considering the size of these items, removing these items, does not help much in reducing the mailbox size. You can use policy to strip the attachments of these calendar items though to reduce a little bit.

    Ok that makes sense. These are users that we're removing from Exchange as they have so we're just trying to archive their mailboxes completely. It would be nice if EV had a button called "Archive Everything" in it!

    But even if that said, EV is archiving everything is'nt it? EV is just not removing the original items for calendar. Anyways you are going to delete the mailboxes, so this behaviour should not be a concern.
