EV 7.0 - Password Protected PST files

Hello All

We have recently started a massive import across our entire network. All seems to be going well however some PST's are failing to import.

Upon trying to import the files manually with the manual import tool, they fail saying the PST files are password protected.

We try opening the files in an Outlook client, and indeed they do prompt for a password...

However this appears to be something that was not put in place by the end user, and because of this we are now unable to get back into the PST files...

This is quite urgent as the users mail have not been imported, and they can no longer access the PST file either!

Any ideas?

Thanks
  • You need to get yourself a pst password cracker.  Just google it and you will find what you need.

Probably a good idea to document that you are doing so for a little cya.  Just get an email from your manager, HR, etc.. ok'ing the action.

  • Merging password-protected PST files can be a bit tricky manually, as Outlook requires you to know the password for each file and import them one by one into a new PST. This method is time-consuming and not ideal for large numbers of files.

Alternatively, you can use a professional PST Merge Tool that effortlessly combines password-protected PST files without needing to unlock them manually. It supports merging by folders, removing duplicates, and preserving data integrity. I personally used this tool and found it incredibly fast, accurate, and easy to operate, even without much technical knowledge.
