EV 9.0.2/Win7/Outlook 2010 - 2nd Windows profile "incompatible with server"

EV was upgraded from 7.5.3 -> 9.0.2, and moved to new hardware. No issues.

Exchange 2007 mailbox, Win7/Outlook 2010 client (never had EV add-in, existing mailbox)

First windows profile created works like a charm. Installed Outlook http-only add-in for Outlook 2010 from the media.

Second and third windows profile (same Win7 system) reports 'incompatible EV add-in...check with your System Administrator'.

Without listing versions...same Exchange server (same data store for both users), Save EV archiving server, same Win7 system.

Clearly the EV and Exchange versions are compatible if they worked for the first windows profile :-)

  • ResetEVClient - no change.
  • Remove/Re-install EV Add-ins - no change.
  • Third (new) windows profile - no change.
  • Registry appears clean (HKLM-Software-WOW6432node-KVS-Enterprise Vault).

Any suggestions?

JB

  • And is definitely the EV9 SP2 lite client installed right?
Dont suppose under C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp .... do you have any EV Client logs being generated when that occurs?

  • As a matter-of-fact:

10[1240]: Log file created (level 1).

    12/04/2011 19:49:45.410[1240]: Module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Enterprise Vault\EVClient\x64\valkyrie.dll

12/04/2011 19:49:45.411[1240]: No resource module was loaded and the default English resources in Valkyrie.dll will be used.

12/04/2011 19:49:45.412[1240]: This version of the Enterprise Vault add-in is not compatible with the Enterprise Vault server (V7)

12/04/2011 19:49:45.414[1240]: A std::exception has been caught: Enterprise Vault add-in disabled due to a problem with the current configuration.

12/04/2011 19:49:45.458[1240]: FUI: Not loading UI as action map is empty.  Is the user enabled?

So the last question "Is the user enabled?"

"Does the problem user have an archive?" Yes. "Permissions?" Yes.

Of course he also has an active (not hidden) mailbox on Exchange 2007.

However, when I verify by attempting to 'disable for archiving' both of the two 'broken' users are missing!

    (More context...)

Both of these mailboxes were recently moved from an Exchange 2003 server to E2K7 (successfully), and the E2K3 environment removed. (Not as gracefully as I'd have liked, but it is a test environment, so manual removal was acceptable.)

So manually running the Provisioning task...I found the mailboxes previously moved NOW show up as "enabled" (i.e. ready to be disabled).

Hmmm, so returning to the Win7/O2K10 test system, I log off, and back on as the problem user - same issue.

I close Outlook retry ResetEVClient, and am prompted for Vault Cache configuration. :-)

    Sweet!

Add-in toolbar appears, no more compatibility error.

    Problem solved.

JesusWept2: You saved my bacon. Thanks!
