EV on coexisting Exchange 2003 and 2007 environment
I have a coexisting Exchange 2003 and 2007 enviroment. My EV service account/mailbox is stored on Exchange 2003. I updated the permission for the same service account/mailbox in Exchange 2007. Assume everything is configured correctly on EV console, such as archiving task and etc. EV should work properly and archive emails from mailboxes in both Exchange 2003 and 2007, right?
What about vice versa? If my EV service account/mailbox has been moved to Exchange 2007, will it break archiving on mailboxes in Exchange 2003? Thanks
You need a system mailbox for each exchange server regardless of the version. So in the situation that you outline below you will have a system mailbox on E2K3 and a system mailbox on E2K7. Obviously you will have two seperate aurchiving tasks and each task will use their respective system mailboxes.
Please see the installation & configuration guide for details of assigning the relevant permissions to the system mailbox for the VSA. For E2K7 this entails delving into ADSI Edit.
If you moved the mailbox that you are using for the E2K3 archiving task and moved this to E2K7 then this would mean that your E2K3 task would fail as the task will not be able to connect to the server as you have moved the system mailbox that it was using to do this. The task will go into a status of failed.
