EV Outlook Add-in Login prompt

I had a server admin install updates and reboot the Exchange and EV servers last night. Since he did that Outlook launches a prompt saying "Enterprise Vault is retrieving your item, your password may be required" it then opens a Windows Security prompt asking for credentials. If the user enters their credentials it keeps popping up. It's been running fine for several weeks until the reboots last night.

The only issue I see on the EV servers is Event ID 6287 saying

Unable to fetch item from "EV.domain.com".
Reason: Unspecified error  (0x80004005)

  • Do you know what updates were installed on the servers? I'd try to re-apply the VSA password from the Site properties to make sure all the EV components are updated.

  • What version of Outlook? Is it in Outlook Anywhere mode? All users, or just a few?

What version of EV on the server? And Service Pack?

  • Outlook 2010, supposedly all users, EV 10.0.4 .1189. I checked the server and it looks like he only updated VMWare tools on the VM and did not install any actual Windows Updates. I reapplied the service account password and I'll wait and see if that helps.

  • Ok, they are reporting the issue is gone so it looks like re-applying the password resolved it, thank you.
